Tata Altroz, Punch CNG launch soon: Specs, features, mileage and more
If you’re planning to purchase a new CNG car, you might want to hold on for a bit since the Punch CNG and Altroz CNG are expected to be launched in the coming months. Talking about the two cars, both of them were showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo with a new dual cylinder setup – with both cylinders placed under the boot floor, ensuring a minimal compromise on boot space unlike other CNG cars.

The Punch and Altroz are currently offered with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that puts out 86 PS of max power and 113 Nm of peak torque. When coupled with the CNG kit, the power and torque output will come down to 77 PS 95 Nm respectively. Tata will be offering the Altroz CNG and Punch CNG with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. Similar to the Tiago CNG, the CNG versions of the Altroz and Punch could have a claimed fuel efficiency figure of about 26 – 27 km/kg.
On the inside, the Tata Altroz and Punch CNG will likely continue to be offered with 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a semi-digital instrument cluster, an engine start/stop button, automatic climate control, height adjustable driver’s seat.
In addition, both the cars were seen equipped with an electric sunroof at the Auto Expo 2023! The sunroof will also be added to the petrol variants of the two cars, in all likelihood. Do note that the CNG variants will likely carry a premium of about Rs 90,000 – Rs 1 lakh over the corresponding petrol trims.
